The first night went fantastic! I put Isaac in his crib at 8:43pm and at exactly 8:53pm he stopped crying and was out like a light. 'Wow' I thought, 'it's like magic!'
Day 2 was good. He fell asleep fairly quickly for each nap. And come bed time he cried a little longer. Altho, in all fairness I did put him down 15 minutes earlier than he's used to going to bed (but it was in keeping with the schedule he'd been on all day).
Day 3 was again good during the day. Then the night rolled around. And man oh man is that kid stubborn (obviously my son ;) He decided that he was not going to sleep when I decided, but instead he would scream until he was ready to go to sleep.
And then there was today... dun, dun, dun. It started out with him sleeping in until 9ish, which is unusual. He usually gets up at about 7 and hangs out with his dad for an hour or so until his morning nap (all the while I sleep in). So his morning nap was thrown off. He only slept an hour and would not fall back to sleep.
Then at 2pm promptly he fell right to sleep (which was the scheduled time) and I thought 'oh good, we're back on schedule.' But instead of sleeping for 2 hours, he woke up only 40 minutes later and would not fall back to sleep (Are you seeing a pattern here?).
Anyways, it made for a terrible afternoon. Crankiness out the ying yang. We tried to put him down for bed at 7.. BIG mistake. He slept about 40 minutes (again) and woke up, wide awake. So then we put him down again around 8pm. And he cried until 9. Well, I wouldn't necessarily call it crying. He really threw a temper tantrum for an hour.
So 9 it is, at least for now. We need to adjust his schedule so that his bedtime is 9 every night. Which is fine considering that for the first 3 months or so of his life he wouldn't go to sleep before 10!
Anyways, this is what I wore on Monday to run errands. Kohl's, Kroger, Thrift Town and some after dinner fro-yo. It has been 100ish all week. Yuck.
We also went to the pool a couple of times this week:

I'm wearing: romper- Target clearance (little girl's dept). sunglasses- Fox Racing
Isaac is wearing: bathing suit- garage sale-d. hat- gift
They say that the first 3-5 days of sleep training are rough so I'm ready to tough it out. The days that it's worked have been amazing. He sleeps solid during naps and at night and he's such a happy baby when he's awake. AND I get so much more time to get things done during the day. It's pretty awesome.
How about you? Did you sleep train? Thoughts??

love the romper :]
Hey! It's Ashley (Lauren Roberson's friend). Anyway, I have a couple of sleep training questions for you! My little guy is 15 weeks old, and it's about time we start doing some sort of sleep training too.
If Isaac is just playing in his crib when you are wanting him to go down, do you leave him there? Or do you go pat him/comfort him?
Also, what is the longest he has cried? I've tried a few times to let Anders (my son) whine it out until he falls asleep. But sometimes those whines quickly turn into screams. It seems like the crying just winds him up even more.
Can't wait to hear your insight!
I hope the sleep training gets better! You sure look cute in that little girl's shirt. :)
I love the thick belt, nothing like adding a belt to make an outfit stylish!

Love that romper!
We didn't call it that back then, but yes, we trained our kids to fall asleep on their own and to soothe themselves back to sleep if they woke up.
We also did playpen training too.
Then we had to train them to stay in their beds once they outgrew their cribs, lol!
As tiring as it is, this time will go by fast and you will be glad you did it.
I had several friends who took their kids into their beds with them, but they all had a harder struggle later when the kids were older.
Thank you all for the encouragement with the little one :) He seems to be adjusting a lot better to the schedule and even slept through the night last night!!
And can I just say YAY for rompers? They are so cute and functional (and easy to breastfeed in). I need to get some more :)
That romper is adorable! LOVE getting stuff in the clearance aisle ;)
Good luck with the sleep training, it's TOTALLY worth it! IMHO I think it's so much better for them to sleep on their own in their own place. I know so many people who don't let them cry it out and they have to hold them ALL THE TIME. Not that I have anything against holding babies, but you can't let them run the house! Once they realize they do, IT'S ALL OVER FOR YA! LOL ;)
