My husband has been a Marine for 8 years (I'm so incredibly proud of him and the sacrifices he's made for our nation). We've had the privilege of celebrating the Marine Corps birthday for several years. It's a tradition for each battalion to hold a Marine Corps Ball each year and we all get to dress up, eat, drink and dance. It's always so much fun!
I thought that today, in celebration, I would share some of our fun memories from the birthday balls we have attended in the past.

2004, Norfolk, VA:
{I was sick as a dog that night}
2007, Camp Pendleton, CA:

2009: Camp Pendleton, CA:{This is from a re-enactment of the raising of our flag on Iwo Jima. It was really moving.}
{Yes, that is the same dress I wore in 2003. Pretty impressive that it still fits, eh?}
Every year the Commandant and Sgt Major of the Marine Corps releases a birthday message. You can watch the 2010 message here. (It's pretty awesome)

Happy Birthday Marines!!

I like your dress from 2007! You look like quite the babe. ;)
Kinda bummed that I met the hubby AFTER he'd already finished his time in, I would LOVE to get to go to a birthday celebration. Any reason to get fancy sounds fabulous to me!!
